In school we read a great story called "Flat Stanley", written by Jeff Brown. In the story, a bulletin board fell on him as he slept, and he became 1/2" thick! He wanted to go on a trip, so his family folded him up and mailed him in an envelope to California.
We are sending our Flat Stanley to you. We hope you will treat Stanley like a guest. Take him with you when you can, then mail him to someone you know after a couple of weeks. We would appreciate it if you would mail us to let us know how Stanley is doing and where he is. We are anxious to learn about the area where you live, and how you have fun. Please describe some of the activities you enjoyed with Stanley. Our class will keep track of where Stanley has been by marking the map we have in our classroom when we receive your letter.
Our goal is to learn about as many different places as possible before the end of our school year. We hope to have each student re-united with their Stanley at that time. In the past he has returned to our school with snapshots, postcards, maps, and many other goodies. The Flat Stanleys will be on display at school for us all to enjoy. Thank you for helping us with this very important Third Grade project. |
