POETRY |
The groups learn a poem of the week. By the end of the week, most children have the poem memorized. This helps them boost their fluency in daily reading. |

INTERACTIVE WRITING |
During Interactive Writing, each child contributes to a story. The teacher is there to assist each child when writing his/her part of the story on chart paper. The other members of the group may also assist with the spelling of words, punctuation, and capital letters. |

WORK STATIONS-LISTENING |
At the listening station, a child listens to a tape of a book while following along in the same book. They then write or draw something about that story. |

WORK STATIONS-BUDDY READING |
Buddy reading is reading a familiar book to another member of the group. They take turns reading at this station. |

WORD WORK |
The groups learn how to put letters together to make words. They use magnetic letters to make their words. This helps them learn how words work. We are always working on sight words that each one needs to know. |
