Homework information

The students will be responsible for 1 AR reading book each 6 weeks. We will not read an AR book the 5th 6 weeks. The books will need to be on or above their reading level. The students will need to read at least 3 chapters of their book each week. Short summaries for the chapters are due every Monday at the beginning of class. The completed summaries will be counted as a daily grade. Hopefully, this will keep them reading a little each day instead of trying to cram the night before an AR test.
Ex: Monday August 31st-summaries on Chapters 1-3 are due.
September 8th(because of a Holiday on Monday)
summaries on chapters 4-6 are due.
Your student will go to the library during English class every other week to re-check books, work on the computers, view distance learning topics, and work on specific reading objectives through the use of Study Island. The opportunity to re-check a library book is open at the time. If a student does not bring the book to class, it is the student's responsibility to find another time to take care of the library book.


Your student will be responsible for gathering things from home such as junk mail, articles, newspapers, etc. I will send a note home asking for these items throughout the year.

I do not allow zeroes. If a child does not attempt to complete the assignment given, they will go to homework d-hall to complete it. If this becomes a persistent problem, it becomes a discipline issue and I will give you a call. My goal is to have your child want to learn.

Grading percentages:
20% weekly assessments
14% 6 weeks test
33% daily grades
33% other –projects, participation, composition, etc.
