We try to make each year better than the last. It is very crucial that we work together in order to create an attitude that promotes success! As always, one of the things I would like from you, as a parent, is more involvement with not only your child but the school district. I welcome you to come by and visit at any time. If you would like to help with classroom work/projects, don't hesitate to email me at
ccooper@breck.esc14.net or call the school at 254-559-2231.
As a result of the higher level of intensity in teaching and in assignments, out TAKS scores were outstanding. We even had some of our Resource students who were commended in some areas. The TAKS is now on grade level, so it is important that we teach at a higher leve. It is imperative that you continue to push your child to do his/her assignments to the best of their ability on a daily basis. Daily work counts as 25%, and weekly test grades count as 25%. The other 25% comes from their notebook. Please make sure your child is keeping a notebook. It contains all of their daily work, weekly tests, and some of the essays that we will write.AR tests are now extra credit! A student can receive 5 points towards their SIX weeks grade if they pass an AR test.
We will be doing much more writing this year. Our writing skills are improving; however, TAKS test are adding more writing. I try to use topics that will generate thinking outside the box. Please encourage your child to use their creativity!
