I have all my students, Art I, II, III do this assignment at the beginning of every year. The object of the assignment is perception - looking at an object carefully, becoming deeply aware of the special nature or characteristics of that object. This is something that all my students will do a lot of this year. My Art I students may not have ever really done this before. For my Art II and III students it serves as a refresher. And even though it is a rather difficult assignment, most of my students are quite surprised at how well they can draw when they just slow down and really look at the object they are drawing! |
