Benchmark Testing!
We took a pre-test the 2nd week of school. This pre-test reading gives me a look at where your child is starting out.
Every six weeks test is a benchmark test. If your child fails a benchmark test, he or she will have to come to tutoring until I feel that he/she has mastered the content. We will also do a 9 week benchmark, which will be an important reading on where your child is at. We are benchmark testing December 15-19. If your student does not pass a test, he/she will be required to come to tutoring until the TAKS test in February. You will receive a call or a letter if your child needs to come to tutoring. It is very important for the students to do their very best on every test so that we know where they are at.
8th graders must pass TAKS this year to advance to the 9th grade. Please, encourage your child to take all tests seriously.
Good luck,
Mrs. Fuller
8th Grade English
We are off to a great start this year! I am enjoying your children immensely. We will be using the students' AR books in class, so remind them to bring their library books to school. The students have been working hard on Objective 1 this six weeks, which is vocabulary and main idea. We will move on to Objective 2. If your child has not mastered Objective 1, he/she will be required to come to tutoring until he/she has mastered the objective. Encourage your child to read more at home! The more that a child reads, the better the child does in school. Your child should be reading on level. Please be aware of the level that your child is reading. Additional reading may be necessary to get your child on level.
7th & 8th Grade Talented And Gifted
I hope that your child enhances all of his/her individual abilities in "TAG"! I hope that they will learn about what kind of learners they are, how they can improve their reading speed with increased comprehension, and many more exciting things that should help them succeed in the future! We have many planned projects, and we will have many more that will surface each six weeks.

7th Grade Writing
We are working on becoming very good writers. They have worked hard, so give your student a pat on the back! The 1st six weeks is tough. We are moving slower than I like, but they are improving every day. Next six weeks will be very challenging because we will be starting commas. I may have to keep your child after school if I see that they are falling behind because of absences with athletics or other things. I cover many things each day, so your child misses a great deal if he/she is absent. Please, keep all absences to a minimum.
