Grading Procedures
Homework 25%, Six Weeks Test25% Tests 25%, Projects/Labs 25%
(Make-up tests will be administered at teacher’s convenience and will not be the same test. Labs will be made up after school. (Assignments are due on day assigned regardless of school trips or events. If the student is absent because of illness, assignments are due by the end of the week that the student returns to class.)

Absences and Homework
We usually give students time in class to finish their assignments. Therefore, it is important that your child does not miss class unless it is absolutely necessary!! We cannot help your child be successful if he/she doesn’t come to school! Student success on the TAKS test depends on attendance as much as knowledge of material.
Supplies
White glue or glue stick, scissors, large 3-ring binder, pencils, and plastic metric ruler, scotch tape, map colors (We will be using recycled paper for classroom assignments, so there is no need to purchase notebook paper for this class)
Projects
All projects are due on day specified. 25 points will be taken off of total grade for each day that project is late.
Projects to be announced

***Fines- All textbooks are to be covered at all times. There will be a $1.00 fine assessed for all books that are uncovered. This is a Texas law.

Notification of Live Animals in Classroom
Animal notice for Vicki Doyle’s Lab room

*Your child will get a copy of this notice on the first day of school. Please sign and return by August 28, 2009

According to Federal law it is necessary to inform parents that I keep animals in my classroom. We currently are home to a large goldfish, 2 tiger salamanders, and occasionally 2 friendly ferrets. Sometimes we have nonpoisonous snakes, turtles or lizards. In the spring, we sometimes raise small animals that have been orphaned (possums, coons, squirrels, etc.). Students are usually not permitted to handle these animals, and may observe only. There may be exceptions, particularly if a student brings in the animal for rehabilitation. If you feel that any of these animals may cause your child to have allergic reactions please let me know. I must have a signed copy of this notice, so please sign and return by 8-28-2009.
Thank you,
John Hagler and Vicki Doyle
