Happy Fall Y'all

For the Week of November 16, 2009

It was so wonderful to see so many of you at our Thanksgiving Feast!


We did not have a letter/sound test last week because Friday was such a busy and exciting day. We will have a test on Friday.


I am so excited about the progress your children are making! We are working hard at putting sounds together to make words. I appreciate you practicing sounding out words at home with your child. It will make a huge difference in his/her reading development.


Next week we will not have school because of the Thanksgiving holiday.


I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a safe, healthy week.

*LETTER SOUND test on FRIDAY.

Flips flops and sandals are great, but please make sure your child wears his/her gym shoes to school. We go to PE right after breakfast, and there is not time for your child to change shoes. If your child wants to wear sandals, they can change into them after PE. Please do not send them to school in sandals or flip flops. Thank you!

Hi, I am Lori Bufkin. Welcome to my Kindergarten page!

When I was a little girl, I was a student at East Elementary! I had many wonderful teachers, and I knew that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up!

I graduated from Tarleton State University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. In 1994 I obtained a certification in Special Education.

The 2009-2010 school year will be my nineteenth year to teach in elementary school. In the past, I have taught third grade, prekindergarten, early childhood,special education, and kindergarten. I like all of the grades that I have taught, but kindergarten is my favorite!!

When I am not at school, I am busy with my family.
I married Mike Bufkin in 1989. We have 3 sons. Our oldest son is in the United States Navy, and he lives in California. Our middle son is a sophomore at BHS this year, and our youngest son is a 5th grader at South Elementary.

I love to read books and garden.
