Hello, my name is Steven Toliver. I am the current Technology Education teacher (7th year), at Breckenridge High School in Breckenridge,Texas. I graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1978 and recieved a BS degree in Industrial Engineering Technology from The University of Texas A&M at Commerce in 1986. I worked in various other jobs before becoming a teacher such as: building inspector, carpenter, assistant manager at a large nation wide lumber yard, heavy equipment operator, welder, surveyor, pipe fitter, senior estimator, and a draftsman. I currently teach Manufacturing Systems, Manufacturing Technology, and Electronics. The goals for my students include: working in a real life situations in an manufacturing setting, striving for perfection and quality, mantaining a safe work environment for all involved, increasing mathmatical and machining skills with many various machines, developing better problem solving skills, learning to work together as a group with mutual respect for all, and complying with all rules and policies set forth by myself and BISD. We still do some work in the classroom but most of the time we are working with hands on projects in the shop, because I still believe the best way to learn is not by listening but by doing. We do several community projects a year and take on custom projects from individuals as well.
