Accelerated Reader
Each student will be expected to read an approved novel of his/her choice every six weeks.

AR test grades will make up 25% of the six weeks average. The grade will be determined as follows:
Book Test Grade: 1/3
Book Test Average: 1/3
Reading Goal: 1/3

Students are encouraged to read often and finish books early. If a student fails a book test, the student may read another book before the deadline in order to pass.

Grading Policy
The grading policy for English is as follows:

1. Daily Work: 25%
2. Tests: 25%
3. Projects/AR Test: 25%
4. Six Weeks Test: 25%


Please note the following important guidelines.

A. Incomplete work will not be accepted, but will instead be returned to the student to complete and re-submit.

B. Late work will be accepted up to three days past deadline at a deduction of 10 points per day. After three days, no late work will be accepted.

C. ZAP period will be assigned to remedy missing assignments.

D. Major projects, AR Book tests and research papers will NOT be accepted late. If a student must be absent on the day of a deadline, he/she is responsible for making arrangments toa get the work to me in time.

E. All failing tests may be retaken. Retake exams will recieve a maximum grade of 70.

F. If a student MUST miss class, he/she is responsible for obtaining makeup work and taking any missed quiz/test. Students will be assigned to ZAP to complete any makeup work that is not done in a timely manner.
